These shoes are actually far more comfortable in the soles than I expected and they're quite easy to walk in, even straight off the bat. I got mine in black and think they're pretty cute, actually. While it's too soon to tell any major toning difference, it does seem to help with my hips and they're nice on the bottoms of my feet, which have very high arches and aren't always easy to find a good matches for.
My only complaints are that when I first tried them on, the straps rubbed against the inner part of my feet. However, I realized this was from threads on the bottom with glue on them sticking out, so I simply grabbed a trusty lighter and burnt them down and now they're much better -- though I only wear these around the house for the most part, so can't say how well they'd do for others if you plan to walk all day in them.
I also don't care for how they permanently put your shoe size where your foot goes and for all to see when you're not wearing them, which can be a bit embarrassing for us girls who have larger-sized feet. I wear a size 10 usually, but wound up getting these in an 11, since 10s were out. Fortunately, they fit perfectly; the 10s would have been too small. With that said, if you're one of those in-between shoe wearers when it comes to sizes, you may be better off going up a size.
